Last year, our Relays for Claire event had an incredible turnout, with many enthusiastic teams competing to see who could swim the most laps in an hour. But beyond the fun and friendly competition, the main purpose of this event is far more meaningful — to raise funds for research into rare ovarian cancer.
Many of you know the story behind this cause, but for our newer families, here’s a little background.
Claire Reaburn is a dear friend of John and Judy. In fact, John introduced Peter and Claire to each other, and Peter later introduced John and Judy!
Claire has been courageously fighting a rare ovarian cancer for twelve years, enduring a wide range of treatments including chemotherapy and targeted drug therapies.
Sadly, she recently began her sixth round of chemotherapy, which has left her feeling very weak. Our thoughts and prayers are with Claire as she continues this difficult fight.
What continues to lift her spirits is the love and encouragement she receives from her community — her “village” — and we are proud to be part of that support network.
Please join us on Saturday, November 22nd, from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. to show your support and swim for this important cause. Cancer touches so many lives in so many ways, and together, we can make a difference.
Reception is now taking names and forming teams — sign up today!
